Island universes

"We can pool information about experiences, but never the experiences themselves. From family to nation, every human group is a society of island universes."

Condescender

Es chistoso que en español no haya palabras, más aún, verbos para patronize y condescend.

pa·tron·izeˈpātrəˌnīz,ˈpatrəˌnīz/verb

1.
treat with an apparent kindness that betrays a feeling of superiority.
"“She's a good-hearted girl,” he said in a patronizing voice"

synonyms: treat condescendingly, condescend to, look down on, talk down to, put down, treat like a child, treat with disdain
"don't patronize me!"

con·de·scendˌkändəˈsend/verb
verb: condescend; 3rd person present: condescends; past tense: condescended; past participle: condescended; gerund or present participle: condescending

show feelings of superiority; be patronizing.
"take care not to condescend to your reader"

synonyms: patronize, talk down to, look down one's nose at, look down on, put down
"don't condescend to your readers"

do something in a haughty way, as though it is below one's dignity or level of importance.
"we'll be waiting for twenty minutes before she condescends to appear"

synonyms: deign, stoop, descend, lower oneself, demean oneself;
vouchsafe, see fit, consent
"he condescended to see us"

Y en español condescender significa:

condescender
Del lat. condescendĕre.

Conjug. c. entender.

1. intr. Acomodarse por bondad al gusto y voluntad de alguien.

Es una palabra latina que se adaptó de esa forma al inglés, pero con un sentido, a mi parecer, opuesto.

En español, ¿es bueno o malo condescender?
